Thank You
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me or thought happy thoughts for me over the last week.

Wednesday was the most physically and emotionally taxing day of my life – but it’s done!
I had a lot of firsts:
- First sedation (but I didn’t fall asleep, just fuzzy)
- First surgery and implant
- First chemo
- First prescription pain pills (mild stuff, but stronger than Tylenol)
The day went surprisingly fast, considering we were at the hospital from 7 am – 4 pm. I over-prepared, as usual, with snacks and activities. I even got a goodie bag from the hospital with puzzle books, soft hats, tea and ginger candies. J was with me for almost the entire time and was super brave, watching me get stuck with needles and learning how to dress my incisions.
I won’t go into the gory details, but surgery went well as did the chemo. So far I’m feeling fine apart from surgery soreness and overall tiredness. It sounds like it might be a few days before I feel side effects from the chemo, but I’ve been drinking a ton of water to try to minimize those.

I even slept alright last night, though I woke up sore from sleeping on my other side. I took a nap today and a very cautious bath in order to keep my surgery sites dry.
I just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know that I’m doing okay. I was really freaked out and I’m so relieved that this part is over. Now I am on the mend and finally working to get healthier. I know I will feel worse over the course of the next 5+ months, but yesterday was a big hurdle and I’m proud to have passed it.
Thanks again for all of the texts and messages and positive thoughts. It’s really nice knowing that I have so many people sharing their strength and support with me.
